Couture gown FAQ's
A couture dress from frockfollies is made just for you. From the initial consultation you are involved every step of the way. You choose your fabrics from a wide selection and specially sourced samples.
Your dress/corset/skirt will be cut specifically to your measurements and will involve several personal fittings. Changes to the initial design can be made at the first fitting, if feasible. Your needs are foremost in the design process, and I will happily work from any reference you might have, whether from a film or magazine.
I have booked in a bride 2 years prior to her wedding. But normally 12 months is fine. This allows me to book you in for fittings in advance, leading up to a final fitting. You dress would probably not be started until 6 months before your wedding, but all the fabric would be purchased and a design settled upon, which gives you a good starting point to coordinate the rest of your wedding.
As soon as possible. I offer a non-obligatory consultation where we can discuss designs, look at the fabric choices, and try on sample dresses.
If proximity to me is a problem the consultation regarding style can be done by telephone, and fabric samples sent to you.
Frockfollies is located in Broadstairs, Kent, England. There are simple road, coach and train routes from London. From London by High Speed rail, the journey time is approximately 1 hr 30 mins, and travelling by car from central London usually takes around 2 hrs via the M2 and Thanet way.
If you live a long distance away, or if you are travelling from abroad, local accommodation is available. Broadstairs is a picturesque seaside town, with several reasonably priced Bed and Breakfasts within the town, and a Travelodge 10 minutes away.
After the consultation, if you decide you would like to proceed, I will issue you with a contract, and you will need to pay 40% of the agreed price. This allows me to purchase you fabric, schedule appointments, and begin work on the first fitting stage.
A further 30% will be due at the first fitting, and the final 30% upon completion.
